What this does

This page holds an offline index of works scored for the trumpet family: trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn and piccolo trumpet. Every work is listed with its exact scoring — “two trumpets, two cornets”, “three trumpets”, and so on.

Two conventions worth knowing. Transposition is ignored: a trumpet in C and a trumpet in B♭ are both simply a trumpet, so you never have to guess which key a catalogue happened to name. Cornet is counted separately from trumpet, because composers from Berlioz to Tchaikovsky write for both at once and the parts are not interchangeable.

There are two ways in, and you can switch between them at any time. Search by composer lists everything by one composer, which you can then narrow by instrument. Search by instrumentation turns the same instrument choices into a search across all composers — every work with a flugelhorn, or with a piccolo trumpet, or with exactly two trumpets and two cornets. Setting an instrument to none excludes it instead — two trumpets and no cornet at all. Whatever is selected carries over when you switch, and either search can be shared as a link.

Nothing is installed and nothing is sent anywhere: the index ships with the page and all searching happens inside your browser.
